Federal Pacific Group celebrates rugby with $20,000 donation to Vaiala Ulalei Rugby Club 06 September 2024.

Federal Pacific Group (FEDPAC) handed over a donation of $20,000 to the Vaiala Ulalei Rugby Club as part of the ongoing celebrations for Samoa Rugby's 100-year anniversary.

The donation marks FPI's commitment to honoring Samoa's rich rugby heritage and supporting the growth of the sport in which Samoa has made a huge impact on a local and global stage.

"The donation also acknowledges the legacy of the warriors who pioneered rugby in Samoa, a sport that has carried the pride of the nation to every corner of the world", said Lakapi Samoa, Namulau'ulu Papalii Leota Sami Leota, Spokesperson for Fedpac Group and President of Lakapi Samoa.

Vaiala Ulalei Rugby Club, is well-known as one of the original clubs that helped form Samoa's first national rugby team together with Apia Rugby Club and the Hospital Rugby Club.

"Many Samoans, through rugby, have improved their livelihoods, supported their families, and inspired future generations".

"At Fedpac Group, we see our donation as more than just financial support. We are celebrating the era in which rugby began in Samoa and honoring the courage and spirit of those early players who laid the foundation for Samoa's rugby legacy, he said. Many of Samoa's rugby heroes, especially those who donned the Manu Samoa jersey, hail from Vaiala and they undoubtedly hold a special place in Samoa's sports history".

Namulau'ulu also made special mention of Afioga Papalii Dr. Semisi Maiai who was part of the Hospital rugby team from 1953 - 1955, and was an uncle, a partner and avid supporter of the Fedpac operation when we first started. May he rest in Peace and Love.

This sponsorship is an extension of our commitment to promote rugby in Samoa, not only in Apia but also in the rural areas with the recent 3rd Annual Mataniufeagaimaleata International 7s Tournament.

The Mataniufeagaimaleata 7s tournament has become a vital platform for young athletes in Samoa's rural communities, providing opportunities for skill development, teamwork, and leadership on the rugby field. FPG's consistent support for these events reflects the company's belief in the power of sport to uplift youth and strengthen communities, particularly in rural regions where such opportunities can have a lasting impact.
